Adding Resources and Content to A Group
-
You can use the links in a group's information panel to publish content to that particular group
-
For example, when on the "In The Classroom" group page use the "In The Classroom" panel at the top left to publish different types of content to the "In The Classroom" group.
-
Group content can be published to your groups. The group/s can be chosen when creating the item by expanding out the "Groups" option (found between the "Title" and "Tags" fields).
-
Content in a private group is only visible to its members.
-
The "In The Classroom" group is a "private" group - visibility of its content is limited to Alliance Subscribers. Publish resources you wish to limit to Alliance Subscribers to the "In The Classroom" group
-
Create your own interest groups via the "Group - New Group" link found on the "Create content" page. Groups can be private, moderated or public.
Machinima - Part 4
Where To Next?
As this exploration in Machinima was going on, Soundhouse® was also exploring the relatively new technology of three dimensional virtual worlds, in particular, Secondlife.
In this world, students create an Avatar, which they sculpt in a fashion that they choose. They also walk around in a world where there can build elements, props and buildings which they choose, all extremely simply and quickly. As a stroke of luck, Game Cam V2 would also capture the on-screen animation of Secondlife.
This was the final piece of the puzzle. We now had an environment in which students could create their own three dimensional sets, design costumes for their character/Avatars, change the time of day to suit the film, move a camera around in the most spectacular style, capture the content very simply and edit together the story they had created. And now this all happened in the computer lab.
Early in 2010 I am excitedly anticipating the fantastic products the students will create when they get a second chance to explore the world of Machinima.
