Debney Park Secondary – 03/05/10

Visiting Debney Park was fantastic today. Stacy is an incredibly passionate teacher who is a valuable asset to the Musical Futures program.

Today I spent an hour with Stacy’s year 7 music class.

Students focused on developing their technical skills on the guitar and keyboard. Students used Gigajam to develop these skills and were highly engaged throughout the process. After one session, all students had completed the first two lessons using Gigajam and had learnt some valuable skills which will enable them to focus on the ‘Informal Learning’ component of Musical Futures.

The aim of this term for Stacy is to prepare the students to play one rock song together so that they are able to perform at the parent information night.

After today’s session, this should be a fun and engaging process for the students.
