Adrian Alexander - Chairman
After several years as a full time guitar and keyboard player in various Melbourne based bands, Adrian completed a teaching degree from Melbourne University, and embarked on a nineteen year teaching career in various disciplines including music, physics and mathematics. Through most of that period he was heavily engaged in educational leadership and management, but also maintained his musical performances part time.
Adrian’s involvement in Soundhouse commenced in 1991, and in 1992, he was appointed the manager of the Alfred Brash SoundHouse at the Arts Centre in Melbourne. Since that period, he has overseen the growth of that facility in terms of both curriculum provision and staffing.
His current role is Manager of Digital Content and Multimedia Learning at the Arts Centre, including the new Digital Learning Hub, a premium Soundhouse Music Alliance location.
ANDREW MARTIN - Deputy Chairman
Andrew is a freelance actor, teacher, writer, producer, arts administrator and corporate trainer.
He studied drama and media at Rusden College (now Deakin University) then attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), graduating in 1980.
He has performed extensively with many of Australia’s leading theatre companies, has over fifty film, television and radio credits to his name and has been a guest lecturer, sessional teacher and director at a wide range of tertiary institutes.
He joined the Victorian Arts Centre (VAC) as Theatrical Field Officer in 1989, was appointed Manager of Education Programs (Art Ed) in 1992 and Producer - Creative and Project Development in 1997/98.
He has held numerous board and advisory committee positions including Arts Victoria (Chair, Drama Advisory Panel), Next Wave Festival (Board member), Victorian College of the Arts (Course Advisory Committee) and the Association of Institutes for Aesthetic Education – USA (Board member).
In 2004 he co-created Dramatic Change Solutions a company focussing on Electronic Simulations, Role Training and Multi-Media Programs.
When not acting or teaching he continues his work as a corporate trainer and coach.
He has been on the board of Soundhouse since 2006.
Brendan Callinan
After a short stint as a radio DJ (2GN Goulburn) Brendan joined Oz rock icons The Radiators as keyboard player. Over the next 12 years they recorded multi-platinum selling albums and toured Australia relentlessly before Brendan departed in 1990 to travel overseas with his wife and young family.
On returning to Australia in 1992 he joined Roland Corporation Australia as an Account Manager. After 12 years as National Sales and Marketing Manager, he is now Managing Director of Roland Australia, overseeing their operations in Australia and New Zealand.
A strong advocate for music education, he is a past President and current Executive Committee member of the Australian Music Association.
Rob Walker
Rob Walker has been involved in events and organisation management and in the marketing and promotions fields for over 25 years. He was central in the development of major events such as the St Kilda Festival, Melbourne Music Festival, Melbourne Guitar Shows, Australian International Music Shows, AMAC Conventions, The Audio Engineering Society Convention and many others.
Until 2000 he was the executive director of the Australian Music Association and Australian Music Retailers Association, after which time he took a position in San Diego, California as director of market development at NAMM, the International Music Products Association. This position also encompassed acting as Executive Director of the American Music Conference, a not-for-profit organisation promoting the benefits of music making and music education.
Upon his return to Australia in 2005, he was appointed National Marketing Manager of Allans Music Group, Australia's leading full-line music retailer. In July 2010, the Allans Music Group merged with the Australian Music Group, and he now leads the marketing of the new retail group, Allans Music + Billy Hyde, comprising 30 stores nationally.
He is a current board member of the Australian Music Association and a past-president.
